In the heart of West Jutland, there are magnificent experiences for everyone, with Naturpark Vesterhavets 225km2 at our front door, there are plenty of opportunities for everyone.
For example, explore the realm of the sea eagle at Naturpark Filsø, explore the beautiful heather on horseback or go back in time and feel the buzz of history in the huge bunkers left along the West Coast from World War II.

luxury hostels
Lindvig’s story is a colorful story about West Jutland’s drive, about a central school between two old villages and of course about Charlotte and Poul Erik Søe, who ran the extremely popular Lønne Højskole at the address from 1985 to 2008.
In 2008 a new chapter began in the story of Lindvig, when an enterprising local entrepreneur saw his cut to establish a luxury youth hostel, with a central location in one of Denmark’s most beautiful natural areas.
Lønne Centralskole is being built
The architect Jacob Kjær designed the Lønne School, which was built in 1957.
The school was a replacement for the schools in Vesterlund and Lønnestak. After several meetings and discussions, the location was carefully selected and measured, so that the school’s location was exactly halfway between the two closed schools.
Lønne Højskole opens
Lønne Folk High School was established in 1985 when Charlotte and Poul Erik Søe bought the disused municipal school.
The couple ran the folk high school in the period 1985-2007 with great success. Countless folk high school students have fond memories associated with this time and not least with Charlotte and Poul Erik, who offered genuine West Jutland hospitality through their impressive life’s work, Lønne Folk High School.
Lønne Højskole closes, Lindvig opens
After Poul Erik Søe’s death in 2008, Charlotte Søe lived in the empty buildings for a short period.
This she did before she sold the place to a visionary local entrepreneur who saw the opportunity to use the beautiful buildings for holiday stays and cultural events. The first seed in the history of the hostel was sown.
Købmand Hansen træder ind
Købmand Hansen, perhaps the West Coast’s most experienced tourism player, sees great opportunities in Lindvig.
Investments are being made in a thorough renovation of main buildings and rooms, in addition, a state-of-the-art mini golf course and playground will be laid out on the school’s old ball field.
Petra & Morten takes over the operation of Lindvig
With more than 30 years of experience from the hotel and tourism industry, Petra and Morten took over the operation of Lindvig in the beginning of 2020.
As their first project, they have renovated all rooms and cabins, and installed brand new beds in hotel quality throughout the house. . In the same way as their experienced partner, Købmand Hansen, the couple has a great personal interest in nature experiences and sustainability in tourism, which will undoubtedly shape the hostel’s development in the future.

With 27 beautiful rooms and cabins , we offer holiday and group stays , as well as a wealth of different cultural events. Lindvig’s location between the fjord, sea and forest makes it obvious to take the bike or hiking boots with you, to experience the West Jutland nature on your own or together with the hostel’s associated nature guide.
Lindvig is just the right place in West Jutland , if the car club is to gather for a festive weekend trip or when anniversaries are to be celebrated in a cozy and informal setting. In spring and autumn, nature enthusiasts gather with us to witness the red deer’s mating rituals, the brushcock’s dance and the sea eagle’s majestic wingbeat.
